Introduction to Specialty Certificate Examinations (SCE)
The Specialty Certificate Examinations (SCE) are essential assessments for physicians aiming to certify their expertise in specific medical specialties. These exams are a crucial component for obtaining the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in the UK and are recognized internationally as a benchmark of excellence in medical knowledge and practice.

1. Acute Medicine

2. Respiratory Medicine
Respiratory Medicine deals with diseases of the respiratory system, including the lungs and airways. The SCE in Respiratory Medicine evaluates a physician's knowledge in diagnosing and managing conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), interstitial lung diseases, and respiratory infections.
3. Gastroenterology
Gastroenterology is the branch of medicine focused on the digestive system and its disorders. The SCE in Gastroenterology tests a candidate's proficiency in managing diseases affecting the gastrointestinal tract, liver, pancreas, and biliary system, including conditions like inflammatory bowel disease, liver cirrhosis, and gastrointestinal cancers.
4. Rheumatology
Rheumatology involves the diagnosis and therapy of rheumatic diseases, which affect joints, muscles, and connective tissues. The SCE in Rheumatology assesses knowledge in managing conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, lupus, and other autoimmune disorders.
5. Geriatric Medicine
Geriatric Medicine specializes in healthcare for elderly patients, addressing complex medical conditions and promoting healthy aging. The SCE in Geriatric Medicine evaluates a physician's ability to manage multiple comorbidities, frailty, cognitive impairments, and end-of-life care in older adults.
