Guidance for Beginners Post P1/P2 Examination
For those pursuing advanced training and assessment, it's crucial to be prepared for both the communication and clinical stations of your exams.
Communication Stations (Station 1 and Station 4) Each station consists of two 10-minute communication encounters. Notably, there will no longer be a question and answer segment with the examiners. Evaluation will be based solely on observed interactions.
Clinical Consultations (Station 2 and Station 5) These 20-minute clinical consultations are designed to evaluate candidates on seven integrated skills. You are expected to:
  • Conduct a structured history for 15 minutes.
  • Examine the patient.
  • Discuss probable diagnosis and management.
  • Address any questions or concerns. The final 5 minutes will be reserved for a question and answer session with the examiners.
Clinical Stations
  • Station 1: Respiratory
  • Station 3: Cardio and Neuro
  • Station 4: Abdomen
Recommended Resources for Clinical Stations:
  1. OST-Gautam Mehta: Suitable for Stations 1, 3, 4 & 5.
  2. Ryder Mir Volume 2 & 3: Focuses on Clinical Consultation Stations 2 and 5.
  3. For visual references, consider searching for images of scars on Google.
  4. Pastest Online: Highly recommended for those taking the exam in the UK. Especially essential for international candidates.
  5. Pocket Book for PACES-Rupa Basant.
  6. Cases for Paces: Ideal for a quick revision before the examination.
For Communication Stations (St2 and St4)
  1. Ryder Mir Volume 2
  2. Pocket Book for PACES-Rupa Basant
Begin with Stations 2 & 5, concentrating on consolidated history from Ryder Mir Volume 2 and OST. After a week, delve into communication scenarios from Ryder Volume 2. It's beneficial to form a small study group, preferably of three, to discuss and exchange cases, allowing you to learn and refine your skills collectively.
